The shores of Ohio’s scenic Lake Snowden have been known to attract beaver, mink, fox, raccoons, wild turkey, and whitetail deer. Right now, folks throughout the Lake Snowden area are bracing themselves for the arrival of a ravenous herd of curious, two-legged critters.
This weekend, pawpaw eaters of all sizes will invade Albany, Ohio, for the Tenth Annual Ohio Pawpaw Festival.
The pawpaw is America’s largest native tree fruit. It tastes a bit like a banana. Festival organizers are proud to tell you that chilled pawpaw was George Washington’s favorite dessert.
If you happen to be in southern Ohio this weekend, you can discover this treat for yourself. I’m told that you can expect to find a wide variety of pawpaw delights at this year’s event.
Personally, I won’t be able to make the 536-mile trip from Queensboro in scenic Wilmington, North Carolina, to participate in the pawpaw festivities this year, but I know everyone will be having a great time!
Sincerely,
